An employment law subscription for small employers

Virtual HR Manager is £499 +VAT a month on a twelve-month agreement. We build your contracts, staff handbook and core policies at the start, and answer employment questions before you act.

What the twelve months include

Each plan includes everything in the plan before it, so Virtual HR Manager also carries the contract reviews and day-to-day questions of Business Legal.

Who it suits

A business with employees, where most of the legal questions are about people: a contract change, a sickness absence that keeps returning, a holiday request that clashes, a member of staff who wants to work from home. You get someone to ask before you act, and the documents to act on.

If your questions are mostly about contracts that customers and suppliers send you, Business Legal at £249 +VAT a month is the plan built for that, and it cancels with 30 days’ notice.

For one set of documents the fixed fees cost less. The plan suits a business that also wants somewhere to ask employment questions most months.

Why it runs for twelve months

The Employer Essentials setup is included in the monthly fee and not billed separately. Bought on its own, the handbook and policy set starts at £1,495 +VAT, so at £499 a month the setup is paid for several months in, and the twelve-month term keeps the monthly price at that level.

If a year is too long a commitment, take Business Legal on a rolling monthly basis and buy the employment documents as fixed-fee work at 10% off. You can move up later.

The documents drafted for you stay yours when the agreement ends.

Tribunal claims

Defended by us, with our employment lawyer associate, at a fixed price for each stage. See employment tribunal defence.

Court work and disputes

Anything already contentious when you join, and court work, goes to AD Solicitors (SRA no. 8011228) at rates confirmed first.

Payroll and pensions

PAYE, payroll and automatic enrolment sit with Buzz Accounting, and tax questions with your accountant.

Work carried out by AD Solicitors carries the full SRA framework, including the compensation fund and the Legal Ombudsman. Work we carry out ourselves does not.

Buzz Legal handles contracts, terms of trade, employment paperwork and dispute preparation. Court work, and the other activities reserved by law, are carried out by AD Solicitors, authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (no. 8011228), and you are told which yours is before you spend anything. Common questions

How much is an employment law subscription?

Virtual HR Manager is £499 +VAT a month on a twelve-month agreement, or £4,990 +VAT paid annually, which is ten months’ fee for twelve. Over twelve monthly payments it comes to £5,988 +VAT. The contracts, staff handbook and core policies are built for you at the start and included in that fee.

Why is it a twelve-month agreement?

Because the setup is included in the monthly fee. Bought as a fixed-fee project, the handbook and policy set alone starts at £1,495 +VAT, so the twelve-month term keeps the monthly price at £499. If you would sooner not commit for a year, take Business Legal on a rolling monthly basis and buy the employment documents as fixed-fee work.

What counts as an employment question?

The day-to-day staff issues a small employer meets: contract changes, absence, holiday, conduct, flexible working requests, and what to do before you act on any of them. Virtual HR Manager also includes everything in Business Legal, including up to three contract reviews a month. These are guides, and a busy month is still covered. Where usage runs well past the plan month after month, we tell you.

Does it include tribunal claims?

A tribunal claim is defended at a fixed price for each stage, outside the monthly fee. We do that ourselves, with our employment lawyer associate. Disputes that are already contentious when you join, and court work, go to AD Solicitors (SRA no. 8011228) at rates confirmed before the work starts.

What happens to my documents if I leave?

They stay yours. An employment contract or a staff handbook drafted for you stays valid after the agreement ends. The questions, the contract reviews and the reminders stop. Take copies of anything in your document storage before the agreement ends.
